Choosing the Right Attorney

It’s been quite a while since I last contacted the firm of attorneys who were supposed to be handling my annulment case, this is due to some financial status right now  because currently, we are building a big commercial space in our province, so my dad wanted to make sure that the building’s completed first before shelling out another expenses for the case, you know, just to be on the safe side… and right now, as long as I know that the goal is there, I’m very much willing to wait.

We’re hoping to get the case started next year, though it might still depend on what the situations are. I’ve been talking and somehow asking for advices from different people who have had the same experience as I did, and asking around on how to chose the right attorney as well.

But how does one choose the right lawyer?

1. During the initial consultation with the attorney, there should be some connection with him / her, just like in a relationship, where we usually find the “spark”. Remember, building a good relationship with the lawyer is essential because after all, both parties (you and the lawyer) will be working hand in hand to nail the case.

2. Ask for some referrals from friends and family. But keep in mind that their case may not be the same as yours so you would also want to do some research and ask if a certain lawyer had ever handled a similar case as yours.

3. Fees. Hiring a lawyer can be a bit expensive depending on the case, so have an open communication and set proper expectations regarding the budget and possible expenses.

4. Though there are a lot of fresh grad lawyers that can be trusted, it would still be best to go for someone who have had years of experiences especially for complex cases.

5. Look for someone who you think would take your case as his / her top priority and give you updates every now and then. Ask if he / she is “reachable” whenever you need them or if you have questions and queries. If he says that he is more than willing to answer any questions anytime of the day, then that’s a plus.

Bottom line is to just use your instincts and keep an open mind for possibilities.

ok Ms.Maricel I think I am on the right position to be here..becuase I am into it now hehehe..I agree Ms.Maricel..and I don’t like to deny the fact that if you want to have a fast process..choose an atty. who knows people that help you inside..the courts itself..and Ms.Maricel I heard it will depend on what place you are in..their are certain places where annulment cases filed are faster but I think it will always depend on the reason or grounds why an annulment was filed :)

on my annulment case my atty. is not the one who actually helped me..it was tita who was a very dear friend of my uncle..she is a fiscal and with my case and her connections inside..all of them helped me to fasten my case..

patience Ms.Maricel because on my experience lots and tons of paper works and pails of courage and tears..being in front of an audience with the clerk of court and judge almost 40 cguro sila oh my I was being cross examined and all the physical abuse to me and my kids where asked it was really nerve racking and my eyes where bulging..

nine months yung sa akin po Ms. Maricel and it was primarily on the grounds of annulment that helped the judge to decide..

Be careful po because their are certain cases na humahaba because the ex husband is opposing..on my part he didn’t oppose because we can sue him of child abuse and woman against violence so it will be worse for him hmp..

goodluck ms.Maricel..feel free to dropped by my site and leave a message if you have further inquiries po :)

  2. I hope I won’t be using a lawyer in my entire life. The word attorney or lawyer for me is a bit negative, maybe it’s just me.
