Fixing My Little Brother’s Laptop
Despite my jealousy (yes, I’ve been very jealous of my li’l brother’s laptop – specs wise that is), I’m now here trying to fix his HP Compaq laptop. He was crying a while ago and our dad asked me if I could do something about it. Being the only techie person in the family, I got no choice but to diagnose it.
I’m honestly having a problem fixing this since I’m not really used to HP’s interface. At first, the laptop kept on giving me the ever so dreaded blue screen of death every after restarting, and it would be an endless loop (BSOD then restart, BSOD then restart, BSOD then, well you get the point), so reformatting was my next step (with my little brother’s permission, he allowed me to do a total reformatting since he didn’t really need any of the files – he only uses the laptop for games – pfft…) So, I’m trying my luck with its HP Recovery Manager, but after almost 2 hours, not a single progress! So I decided to check online on what the problem could be, and there I saw that there might be a hard drive problem. So I ran the HD self diagnostic test and viola, the test said that I need to just throw the hard drive away and buy a new one (well not that harsh but you get the drift).
Being a perfectionist, I still searched more resources online and found out that there might still be hope… So I’m trying my luck once again with the HP Recovery Manager, should this fail me again after I wake up, I’m telling my dad that he needs to buy a new hard drive for the laptop — but maybe after I ask him to double check with a technician.
